Since 1989 the upper floor of the Great Holy Cross has housed this exhibit in honour of the Goslar Infantry Battalion. The items on display were collected by members of the former battalion and given to the town of Goslar. The memorial is maintained and manned by members of the Comradeship of the Former Goslar Infantrymen, the Kameradschaft ehemaliger Goslarer Jäger. Covering over 200 years, from 1756-1945, the Goslar Infantry’s participation in Hanover’s, Germany’s and Europe’s military history is on display. From 1838 through 1945 the infantrymen of the Goslar Jäger were respected citizens in the garrison town, with m any daughters of local families marrying members of the infantry battalion. Harz foresters often served their military duty in the Jägerbataillon and it was an honour for military men of every rank to have served in this battalion. The unusual solidarity of all the members of this battalion goes back to the founding of the Comradeship of Former Goslar Infantrymen from 1887. Opening hours:Wednesday 10 a.m. - 12 noon Contact:Hoher Weg 7, 38640 Goslar
